March
Michael and I publicly announce his decision to dedicate his life to the call to full-ministry. Mike and Melisa went with friends to see a Dave Ramsey Live event.
April
Michael began serving as Associate Pastor of Children's Ministries at our home church. Michael travelled to Haiti with the East Kentucky Medical Missions Team. Melisa and the kids stayed home and prayed for him! While Mike was gone, Melisa took the kids to have professional pictures made at a local studio. Melisa turned 36! Wow!!!!
Michael was accepted as a post-graduate student at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary.
Our niece was born!
Michael began work on his 2nd Master's degree - Master's of Religious Education -by taking his first class "Introduction to New Testament." Jonah graduated from Kindergarten and Isaac finished First Grade. Both boys had excellent grades and did beautifully in school. Michael began keeping all 3 kids at home for the summer while Melisa continued to work. Took the kids to their first outdoor ampitheater show - "Little Red - Life in the Hood." Went camping...fun!
July
Michael and Melisa travelled out of town for July 4th weekend together for a "date weekend" and some shopping. Michael, Melisa and the kids went camping once this month with our nieces...a thunderstorm ran us home in the middle of the night! Jonah was in the hospital for three days in the epilepsy monitoring unit so he could have his medication adjusted and has done beautifully ever since. Isaac had his 7th birthday! Michael and Melisa taught the 3 year old class at Vacation Bible School.
School started back with Isaac eager to begin second grade and Jonah anticipating getting his first-1st grade reading book. The boys joined the Boy Scouts. Michael began his 12th year of teaching this month.
Isaac was baptized by his father and our pastor! Travelled during Memorial weekend to Cincinnati to meet friends and visit the Creation Museum. School is in full swing - Jonah finally got his first reading book and he ran down the hall to show his dad!
Michael and Melisa travelled with friends to Ridgecrest, NC, to attend our first Lifeway Festival of Marriage event! The children spent the weekend with grandparents. When we got home, Abby had the chickenpox. Had a great time at our annual Halloween church fellowship party at our friends home. Our children picked excellent costumes this year and were adorable - Isaac was a chef, Jonah was a man-eating shark, and Abby was her favorite princess, Cinderella. Melisa resigned as Nursery Director at our church to be more available to care for our own children to free Michael up for his own areas of service in our church. Melisa began a really bad spell with Migraines which bled over into November.
Bought new living room furniture before ours completely broke down. Melisa's migraines continued until about the 2nd week of November before complete relief came. Michael and Melisa went Christmas shopping at midnight on Thanksgiving night at the Disney Store and on Black Friday. Michael had his 35th birthday - hmmm!
We had a great month celebrating the birth of Christ! Just bought a little camper. Jonah had his 7th birthday - incredible! Nathan, Miranda and Mishaela all had birthdays!
Where does it go? I just don't know. I feel like the days seem so long, but the years seem so short and get shorter as they pass. I am eager to move forward. However, I am looking tonight to the past for wisdom, reasons to be thankful, mistakes to learn from, and directions I may have missed.
2009 - I'm going to bust you wide open!
